Tourist boat approaching Bagan

Tourist boat "Shwe Kein-Nayi" arrives Bagan jetty in the afternoon. There is one tourist boat from Mandalay to Bagan on the Ayeyarwaddy river three or four times a week.

The boat leaves Mandalay at about 0600Hrs. It stops at a couple of places along the river before arriving Bagan in the afternoon. During the rainy season (July to November) when there is lot of water in the Ayeyarwaddy river the boat arrives Bagan in the afternoon (between 3 to 5PM). In the other months the arrival time will be late.

If the water is very low (it can happen in February to May) the boat may stop cruising. Upstream crusing from Bagan to Mandalay is not popular among foreign tourists since it takes one full day or 2 days.
