Pyin Oo Lwin or May Myo at 3500 feet (1066 meters) above the sea level is on the eastern tip of Mandalay division. This summer resort for the people in low land Mandalay and beyond is home to many different ethnic groups such as Shan, Indian, Nepalese, Kachin, Bamar and miniorities hilltribes. Mandalay - Lashio train that leaves Mandalay at 0400 hrs would arrive Pyin Oo Lwin at about 0730 hrs. After staying here for nearly an hour it would continue to the east into Shan state.
