Asterism Travels & Tours - Myanmar | Boating on Ayeyarwaddy and Chindwin rivers |
|
Tours - River journeys During your travel in Myanmar we can provide a river journey using public boat, tourist boat or chartered boat on the Ayeyarwaddy and Chindwin rivers. The most travelled route is Mandalay to Bagan (Nyaung U) using Inland Water Transport double decker or triple decker tourist boat. The boat leaves Mandalay (3 or 4 trips per week from May to January) early in the morning and arrives Bagan in the afternoon or evening depending on the water level in the river. One of the less travelled routes is from Bhamaw (Kachine state) to Mandalay. It takes two days and one night or may be more. There are 2 or 3 trips a week onboard a double decker from June to January. Private cabins may be available. On the Chindwin route, since there are no tourist class accommodations on the upper Chindwin river (2004) it is very rare to see a foreign tourist taking a public boat down the river. This route has been arranged by chartered boats with on-board living cabins so tourists do not need to stay on the land. These boats are good for group size of at least 8 people and up. For thouse who want to explore the rivers in private we can arrange private chartered boat. Mandalay - Monywa, Monywa to Bagan and Mandalay to Bagan could be finished within one full day if the rivers have good waters (June to January). For day trip we arrange a boat with seats, roof, sun deck, and a toilet. These boats can be used for up to 12 people group. We will arrange food and drink, guide for the trip. Please kindly tell us in your inquiry if you want this to include in the plan. |
